Two masked men robbed a private poker game at gunpoint Saturday afternoon and got away with more than $2,000 in cash.
The robbers walked into the building on the 900 block of South Cliff Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday, police spokesman Sam Clemens said. One of the men carried a semi-automatic assault rifle.
They told the eight players to empty their pockets and stand against the wall. The man without the gun collected the wallets, cell phones and keys, then they both left out the front door and drove south on Cliff in a Chrysler minivan.
The robbers were described as black men with medium builds: One was 5 feet 9 inches; the other was 6 feet tall.
Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers of the Sioux Empire at 367-7007.
